Lau Pa Sat, formally known as Telok Ayer Market and also the first wet market in Singapore, is one of the places that represents Singapore's vibrant life. The food.... IS SO HEAVENLY DELICIOUS!
BBQ Stingray! Yum yum ~
This dish is call La - La!
There are still many local delicacies that are not to be missed. The top 10 must tries are laksa, Chilli/pepper crab, Bak Ku Teh, Fried carrot cake, Satay, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Char Kway Teow, Roti Prata, Curry Fish Head and Rojak! Personally, i love to eat fried carrot cake the most! Fried Carrot cake, also known as Chai Tow Kway consists of ingredients such as preserved raddish, spring onions, eggs, diced garlic, sometimes it will also be served with shrimps and sweet black sauce. Just the aroma of it will make you drool! It is very much different from the American Carrot Cake as it doesnt involve any frying, instead, it need to be baked like any other normal cakes. Our traditional Carrot cake preparation method is very different from the Western countries! Want to try something new? this will be an ideal choice!
Hurry! It doesnt take cost you much to taste local Singapore food. Furthermore, the portion of one serving of food is big enough to be shared among two people. If you want to get there, Lau Pa Sat is located near Raffles Place mrt( hub of the Singapore's busy financial district) and is just 5 minutes walk from the station, is easily accessible and it operates till late at night, some of the stalls even operates for 24 hours, dont worry if you have sudden cravings even it is at 3am in the morning!
