Come 2010, Singapore will see the official opening of two of the most highly-anticipated integrated resorts of the year, Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands.
Resorts World Sentosa is in development stages on the island of Sentosa, off the southern coats of Singapore. Developed by Genting International, this S$6.59 billion (US$4.93 billion) destination will be home to Southeast Asia's FIRST AND ONLY Universal Studios theme park, as well as the world's LARGEST oceanarium. Resorts World Sentosa also hold six luxury hotels (1,800 rooms in total), all furnished according to a different theme, as well as full conference and meeting facilities.
The integrated resort which will occupy over 49 hectres of land is divided into three zones, central, east and west.
In the central zone lies the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) facilities, an unparalleled array of world-class retail and dining options at FestiveWalk, street performances and art displays at Bull Ring and Crane Dance, Le Vie, the resident theatre extravaganza of Resorts World Sentosa, and four of six hotels, including the super luxurious all-suites hotel Crockford Towers (which will be home to the resort's casino), and the one and only Hotel Michael, designed by US architectural legend Michael Graves.
The west zone holds the remaining two hotels, Equarius Hotel, and Spa Villas, as well as the Equarius Water Park, Marine Life Park, and The Spa by ESPA.
Equarius Hotel
The Equarius Hotel is situated at the border of Sentosa's lush, verdant forests, located near the Equarius Water Park, a water themed park with rides, slides and pools, cradled underneath the canopy of a tropical rainforest.
The coastal Spa Villas, made up of over thirty villas floating on a lagoon, is the ideal getaway destination for those looking for abit of peace and tranquility, for those who need a well-earned rest, for weddings, for honeymoons. Completed by world class spa operator ESPA's award winning wellness center, the Spa Villa is an exclusive sanctuary where guests can pamper and recharge. The Spa's unique offerings include lifestyle coaching, nutrition management, stress management, general health and fitness, post-operative rehabilitation, complementary therapies, thalassotherapy and interactive dolphin therapy programmes.
Spanning 8 hectares, the Marine Life Park will be the world's largest oceanarium, holding over 700,000 fishes and 20 million gallons of water. The programme allows guests a chance to admire dolphins up close, and even dive with and feed fearsome tiger sharks. A shallow wading pool gives both children and grown-ups a closer interaction with various reef fish and corals. A quality entertaining and educational experience for kids and adults alike.
The Maritime Xperiential Museum will take visitors back in time to one of the greatest adventures in history. The museum will house a 360-degree multimedia theatre where visitors can trace the history of the maritime Silk Route from the 9th to the 19th century, through an interactive, multi-sensory process.
In the east zone sits the Universal Studios theme park, South-east Asia's first and only Universal Studios theme park. It will occupy 20 hectares of space, and consists of 24 attractions and rides, 18 of which will be originally or specially adapted for Singapore. The theme park is divided into seven areas - Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away, and Madagascar.
